Sometimes life is like a box of chocolates.... nah, I'm kidding. Life is hard. But, I feel most of the time with those who need to hear God in times where it feels like He is not listening would be when we are in the depths of despair. Or rock bottom as you will. Which brings us to Abraham and Isaac. My Bible reading tonight came from Genesis 22. When Abraham is asked to take Isaac and sacrifice Him on an altar for God. But at the last possible moment, an angel tells Him not to. God provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice instead of His son. But, Abraham knew that God had asked him to do something that none of us could imagine even thinking of doing. However, Abraham followed God's orders and at the last second, God provided a way out. I feel life is like this so many times that we cannot count that high. God is faithful in all types of turmoil with us. We may feel like He is not listening but in reality, sometimes things are stripped away from us so we are left with just us and we HAVE to reach out for the one that can save us. It is sad that when we are in trouble we ask God to help us. When we are happy and joyful, we tend to forget that God has given us that day to glorify Him. Why is that? Shouldn't we be joyful and happy that God gave us a gift of another day? Whatever we are celebrating, shouldn't we give thanks to God first? Abraham has set a huge example for us that we need to trust that God will come through no matter what is asked of us to do. I mean people give their lives for God as well as their children (Abraham). Why can't we live for the One who created us and our joys and turmoil? He is there through it all. Just a thought.
