the Christian dating rules

So, my whole life I was tought to use the two rules that Leslie Ludy had when she started thinking about dating.  One, never have sex before marriage and two, never date someone who does not have the same beliefs.  But, is this all we should keep with us when we are dating?  Is there more to remember before making a commitment (even if it is just hanging out) with someone?  I know so many girls who are Christians and have strayed so far away from what they were taught, that they now have completely regretted giving that part of themselves away, as well as not finding someone who loved God with all their heart.  They have made their lives more difficult because they refused to establish what God wanted in their lives instead of the giving into the selfish flesh that we live in.  I know it is hard and I know that we all want to be able to share that with someone.  But, think about it.  Do you really want to give your future spouse only part of you?  Do you really want to give God only part of you?  Is it not your desire to be able to give absolutely everything; mind, body, and soul to the one person that knows how to meet your needs more than anyone else in this universe?  I feel these people who fall extremely short of their own values, have that missing piece that would make their lives more complete than they could ever realize.  I just pray that eventually those people gain the self-esteem and love that I am feeling right now.
